Youth Programs (Ages 18 and Under)
Developmental Program
Our introductory diving program provides beginners and recreational divers with a comprehensive foundation in basic diving skills, encompassing both essential dry-land exercises and initial in-water techniques. This program emphasizes the foundational knowledge of the sport and consists of 1.5-hour practices held from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Participation in this program is currently limited to eligibility for HDA-hosted meets only.
Silver Program
This program builds upon fundamental diving skills, with a strong emphasis on refining technique and facilitating progressive skill development. Practices are 2 hours and 15 minutes in duration, held on weekdays from 4:00 PM to 6:15 PM. Eligibility for participation includes skills exhibitions, Olympic Rings, Champions, and Alabama invitational meets. This level is designed for divers currently working on voluntary dives or those who are recreational divers looking to advance their abilities.
Gold Program
The Gold Team program focuses on high-level competitive skill development, featuring 3-hour practices on weekdays with varied weekend schedules. Each practice is structured to include 1 hour of dry-land training or lecture followed by 2 hours of diving. Attendance at home invitationals is expected, and attendance at away meets is encouraged. This team is composed of divers who have at least one dive in each direction and participate in weekly practice of each dive direction, making them eligible for FINA, Regional, National, Invitational, and high school meets (note that USA Diving meets require separate membership). The primary goal of the Gold Team is to prepare athletes for national-level junior diving competitions, including FINA and AAU events, within the following FINA age groups: 16-18 (A), 14-15 (B), 12-13 (C), 11-Under (D), and 9-Under (E). FINA standards are used for national meets, while Intermediate/Novice standards may apply to invitational competitions. The Huntsville Dive Association also collaborates with other local diving seasons, such as recreational leagues and high school teams, to strengthen the overall diving community in the area.
High School Diver
The High School Diver program, requiring coach approval, costs $150 per month and meets 1-2 days per week for 2-hour sessions, running from August through November.
